Welcome to the first in a series of blog posts which will be shining the spotlight on the songs in my repertoire. I often get asked questions about whether my music is suitable for events such as wedding ceremonies or birthday parties.  I hope that this series of blog posts will help to answer some of those questions more substantially than I can in an email or over the phone. First up in the series is my Pop and Rock Covers Set.   My pop and rock covers set is a collection of songs from the 1960’s right thought to the present day. All of the songs have been arranged especially for solo acoustic guitar, meaning they are instrumental covers with no vocals. The arrangements in my pop and rock set are a mixture of those created by other people such as Beat Scherler and Adam Rafferty, plus other pop and rock songs I’ve arranged personally myself.

Being played on solo classical guitar, my pop and rock covers tend to take on a more mellow sound than the original songs. The vast majority of songs in my pop and rock set are relatively soft, with the exception of a few songs such as Isn’t She Lovely and Here Comes The Sun which are a bit more upbeat. But this softer edge doesn’t stop me from including songs from bands such as Metallica, Nirvana and King of Leon. If you like chilled out covers of popular songs played in a way you’ve never heard before, then my pop and rock set might be just what you’re looking for.

I often receive requests for pop and rock songs which are not in my current repertoire and am commissioned by the client to make a personal arrangement of the song for their wedding day or birthday party etc. Because of this, my pop and rock set is a true reflection of my clients’ personal requests, meaning it’s packed with songs people know and love.  The pop and rock covers set is definitely one of my most requested set lists. I play songs from this set at most of the events I’m invited to perform at.
