St George’s Hall and Hope Street Hotel | Liverpool

St George's Hall and Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool | 23rd May 2015 I was very fortunate to be invited to play guitar for a wedding at St George’s Hall in Liverpool on Saturday. St George’s Hall is right in the heart of Liverpool City Centre. It’s a beautiful neoclassical building which plays host to a couple of incredible concert venues. I was booked to play in the 'Concert Room'. With this performance being in the heart of Liverpool city centre at the start of a bank holiday weekend, I set off with plenty of time to spare. As it happened [...]

Top 5 Best Wedding Ceremony Songs: Processional

Top 5 Best Wedding Ceremony Songs: Processional I’ve been perusing the forums on many wedding themed websites and blogs recently in a bid to keep up to date with what brides are looking for with regards to music for the wedding ceremony.  I get booked to play guitar at the wedding ceremony on lots of occasions so it’s important to keep my repertoire current.  However instead of finding a deluge of answers, I uncovered many more questions regarding music for the wedding ceremony.  One of the questions which seems to keep popping up is “Which songs should I choose for the [...]

Hilltop Country House | Cheshire

This was the first of two performances I’ve been booked for in Cheshire this week.  Yesterday I played classical guitar at Louise and Adam’s wedding ceremony at the Hilltop Country House in the Macclesfield area of Cheshire.  The venue is a lovely well kept country house, hidden away out of sight of the main roads.  I was met at the venue by Martin, who I believe runs the Hilltop Country House and also doubles as the wedding photographer.  I enjoy working with family run businesses as their passion for their work really comes across.  We had a quick informal chat before the [...]

Billesley Manor | Warwickshire

A grand manor house venue for the most intimate wedding I’ve ever played at.  Today was a real treat as I was invited to play guitar at a small wedding ceremony at Billesley Manor.  There were only 5 members of the wedding party; this included the bride and groom, two close friends plus their witness/photographer.  Being such a small wedding ceremony the atmosphere felt delicately poised; a mixture of anticipation and excitement filled the air, which I attempted to ease by playing Mozart’s ‘Andante in E’ and ‘Birds Flew Over The Spire’, along with some other relaxing pieces from my [...]

All Saints Church | Shropshire

If there was ever an advert for travelling early for a booking, today was it.  I had been asked to play classical guitar at Julia and Matt’s wedding ceremony at All Saints Church in Shropshire.  This is approximately a 1 hour drive which I consider to be pretty local (bearing in mind I travel all over the UK to play guitar at weddings).  I set out at 10am hoping to arrive at 11am in time for a 12:30pm start.  Everything was going so well; I made good time on the roads and there was no traffic even though V festival [...]
