Billesley Manor Hotel | Warwickshire

Billesley Manor in Warwickshire | 24th May 2015 This was the second time I’d been booked to play guitar at a wedding at Billesley Manor Hotel in Warwickshire. The first time was in 2013. You can read about it here. I must admit that it didn’t look great in the morning. The clouds were heavy and it was spitting with rain from the moment I woke up. This continued as I was loading the car and I could only hope that it would brighten up as I headed to Warwickshire. Fortunately luck was on our side. As I arrived [...]

St George’s Hall and Hope Street Hotel | Liverpool

St George's Hall and Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool | 23rd May 2015 I was very fortunate to be invited to play guitar for a wedding at St George’s Hall in Liverpool on Saturday. St George’s Hall is right in the heart of Liverpool City Centre. It’s a beautiful neoclassical building which plays host to a couple of incredible concert venues. I was booked to play in the 'Concert Room'. With this performance being in the heart of Liverpool city centre at the start of a bank holiday weekend, I set off with plenty of time to spare. As it happened [...]

Wasing Park | Berkshire

Wasing Park in Berkshire | 9th May 2015 On Saturday I was booked to perform as a wedding guitarist at Wasing Park in Berkshire. This is the second time I’ve made the trip down the Berkshire this week. The first time was to play at a private birthday party at Cliveden Hotel. From looking at the website in the weeks leading up to this wedding, I got the feeling that Wasing Park was not just your run of the mill barn wedding venue. The main barn is shaped like a castle, it has a miniature house on stilts and a beautiful church set [...]

The Upper House | Staffordshire

The Upper House in Staffordshire - 10th April 2015 The Upper House in Staffordshire is a lovely rural Victorian hotel and wedding venue. The added bonus is that it’s just a short drive from where I live. As much as I enjoy travelling to unknown venues and seeing something different, it’s certainly nice when I take a wedding guitarist booking at a Staffordshire venue.  I must admit that I didn’t realize quite how local The Upper House is for me.  It turns out that The Upper House is set in the same 10 acres of woodland in which I go walking at [...]

Top 5 Best Wedding Ceremony Songs: Processional

Top 5 Best Wedding Ceremony Songs: Processional I’ve been perusing the forums on many wedding themed websites and blogs recently in a bid to keep up to date with what brides are looking for with regards to music for the wedding ceremony.  I get booked to play guitar at the wedding ceremony on lots of occasions so it’s important to keep my repertoire current.  However instead of finding a deluge of answers, I uncovered many more questions regarding music for the wedding ceremony.  One of the questions which seems to keep popping up is “Which songs should I choose for the [...]

Peckforton Castle | Cheshire

I’ve been looking forward to playing at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire ever since I took the booking way back in August last year.  The venue is simply stunning!  To deepen my anticipation I treated myself to a new DSLR camera for my birthday last week, which I’ve been dying to try out somewhere picturesque.  The British weather is always something of a gamble; snow in April, heat waves in December.  I had my fingers crossed that today would at least be dry and relatively clear so that I could road test my new camera.  Low and behold, by some miracle the [...]

Billesley Manor | Warwickshire

A grand manor house venue for the most intimate wedding I’ve ever played at.  Today was a real treat as I was invited to play guitar at a small wedding ceremony at Billesley Manor.  There were only 5 members of the wedding party; this included the bride and groom, two close friends plus their witness/photographer.  Being such a small wedding ceremony the atmosphere felt delicately poised; a mixture of anticipation and excitement filled the air, which I attempted to ease by playing Mozart’s ‘Andante in E’ and ‘Birds Flew Over The Spire’, along with some other relaxing pieces from my [...]
